Welcome, 2024! I don’t know whose brilliant idea it was to call the revolution of the earth around the sun the definition of a year (I might do some research later, but if anyone knows, please share), but they have my immense gratitude. How wonderful it is that this human invention of slicing time in chunks gives us all a moment to reflect on the past and hope for the future.
Like most of you, I have a lot of learnings under my belt and aspirations for what is to come. Writing resolutions, building a new habit, learning something new, creating lists of dos and don’ts; the choice is quite vast. There are many exercises you could do when we are celebrating any transition. The key is to find the time to pause and reflect. I have decided to focus on three words to set the tone: attention, intention and consistency. These are not new to me, but I decided to have them as the bedrock of how I live my life:
Direct attention: it is so easy to get distracted nowadays, so it is about quietening the noise to focus on what I want to achieve.
Create intention: It is essential to clarify the purpose behind the goal to yourself (and others if you want more accountability).
Apply consistency: Doing it only once will not change anything. Wellness has been essential to me, so to create new habits, time and repetition have been paramount to making them the new norm.
Here’s to the possibilities life presents when we are open to change.
