Today is a special day. This is when I start a new chapter in my career. It is time to follow my passion, branch out and do what I do best, which is to work with people and teams to get the best out of them. I will do so in my capacity as Executive Coach, Strategic Advisor and Board Member.
I have more than 34 years of experience in the Corporate world and spent the last 14+ years at Salesforce which has been a privilege. There are so many people to thank that if I start mentioning them, I know I will miss someone. You know who you are, you had a deep impact in my life and I am eternally grateful. I have fond memories of what we have achieved as a company. As Marc Benioff always says, values drive value and I truly believe it. It was at Salesforce where I was able to live and lead with my values. When people ask me why I stayed this long, I always say that the best of Salesforce is the people that work there, and I mean it.
Throughout the years I have learned a lot and here are some of the things that have always worked for me:
– Spend time hiring correctly and make sure to hire smarter people than yourself, this will definitely make you smarter
– Be courageous and always listen to your gut
– Set milestones for what you want to accomplish and reserve the right to change your mind
– Praise publicly and coach privately, but don’t wait too long in order to do so
– Feedback is a gift and it should be done with clear examples and kindness
– Don’t shy away from difficult conversations
– Equality and inclusion are a long journey that requires a lot of self-learning
– There are always 3 sides to every story, mine, yours and what really happened
– Debate and dialogue are crucial for success of teams so learn to listen
– Since we spend more than half of our awake day working, be present, work hard and never forget to have tons of fun along the way
I am really excited about the possibilities that this new chapter brings. So here is to new beginnings.
